Aubrey is trying to understand her new cat, Pistachio, when he starts to display some very non-cat like behaviors, such as the ability to summon portals to other dimensions.
This is my first film! My friend Josh Carroll (NotJosh) did the music, and Dominick Battle did the amazing electricity/lightning animation. Most sound effects came from royalty free sources, but I (and my cats) also made quite a few of them.
All other assets and animation are my own.

Background Process
SCRAPPED 3D
The first half of my film was originally more narrative-focused, and had 2 different 3D styles; "realistic" and lowpoly. Unfortunately, when I was about halfway completed all of these shots, the pandemic struck and we were all sent home. Without access to Maya, the finances to buy the Renderman license that all my textures needed, and heavy-duty computers to render on, this entire story-driven section had to be scrapped.
While upsetting, especially with 2 environments and 4 fully rigged characters already completed, I had to move on in order to actually complete this film.

However, it was a ton of work just for it to never see the light of day, so these are some screenshots of renders that I had taken during the process.

1st DIMENSION (Lowpoly)
John Ortiz animated the wind going through the different types of flowers, clovers, and grasses in this scene, but unfortunately they couldn't be included in the final film.

INTRO ANIMATIC
During the transition from 3D to 2D, a lot of the story-driven shots had to be scrapped as well for time and efficiency sake. This was the animatic for the introduction to the film
MISC
Tablet Animation
Originally, these were intended to be individual snippets for an animated texture on Aubrey's tablet for the 3D section, for her to compare to multiple different moods of Pistachio. It was later repurposed for the 2D version instead. I also have a separate project for this here
POSTERS
In loving memory of my grumpy childhood cat, Sadie, who passed away during the production of this film.
